As a Department Manager, you will report directly to the Store Manager and oversee the Department Supervisor and Sales Advisors.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Profit:
- Regularly monitor and analyze department KPIs with the Visual Merchandisers, ensuring actions are taken to maximize sales.
- Collaborate with store management to ensure efficient store operations, maintain H&M standards, and optimize staffing for peak performance during commercial activities and events.
- Implement the Commercial Handbook's guidelines, prioritizing tasks that directly impact sales.
- Lead by example in delivering top-tier customer service and actively coach your team to do the same.
- Participate in day-to-day store tasks, including inventory processing, pricing updates, and department moves.
- Maintain loss prevention and security standards to safeguard the department.
- Provide feedback to the Store Manager on inventory levels and market trends, identifying risks and opportunities.
People and Team Management:
- Oversee recruitment, training, and development of department staff, following H&M's best practices.
- Evaluate team performance, provide regular feedback, and create development plans to enhance team skills.
- Communicate effectively with the store team about business performance, company culture, and training priorities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal standards to protect employees and customers.
- Handle supervisory tasks such as time-off approvals, employee relations, and corrective actions in alignment with company policies.
- Step into the Store Manager's role when needed, maintaining overall store responsibility.
- Foster a positive company culture by encouraging open feedback and continuous improvement within your team.
Qualifications for Department Manager at H&M:
- A positive, inclusive, and creative attitude, with a willingness to learn.
- Passion for customer service and helping customers find their style.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
- 1-2+ years of relevant experience preferred.
- Physical ability to lift items over 20 pounds and perform tasks such as climbing ladders and engaging in repetitive motions.
- Open availability, including evenings and weekends.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Flexibility to travel for training or support at other stores.

Department Manager salary at H&M: $25.40 $28.58 per hour (subject to change based on qualifications)
